John Banas and Kris Wood join Northmarq to open Philadelphia office and expand Northeast presence with Debt & Equity expertise

PHILADELPHIA (March 25, 2024) — Northmarq announced today that John Banas and Kris Wood, senior vice president/managing directors, have joined the company and opened a new Philadelphia office to support Northeast business growth. They will report to Jeff Erxleben, president – Debt + Equity, who is based in Dallas.

“I’m proud to join a company with such a strong reputation in the industry,” said Banas. “I look forward to collaborating with our current clients and new business partners as we further strengthen Northmarq’s position as the lender and capital markets advisor of choice in Philadelphia and the broader Northeast market.”

Banas and Wood will be integral to Northmarq’s regional expansion in the Northeast, capitalizing on the company’s momentum by further expanding its debt and equity coverage and enhancing client service across the region. The new team will focus on agency lending as well as sourcing debt and equity opportunities throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. It will also work closely with Northmarq’s regional investment sales leaders to provide clients with fully integrated advisory services. The team joins the recent additions of senior debt and equity professionals in Richmond, Va., Rochester, N.Y., and Chicago earlier this year.

“Northmarq’s commitment to client-centric service has led us to continually expand our reach and respond to our clients’ needs,” said Erxleben. “John and Kris are exceptionally accomplished commercial real estate professionals, and we look forward to leveraging their deep understanding of today’s competitive market to unlock new opportunities for our clients.”

Prior to joining Northmarq, Banas and Wood both served as managing directors at Walker & Dunlop’s Philadelphia office. Since 2018, they have closed on more than $6 billion in commercial real estate financing transactions across all property types.
